Sweet & Spicy Wine Sauce Meatballs

Sweet & Spicy Wine Sauce Meatballs

Servings: 8 Preparation: 120 Mins 5

Ingredients

  • 1 package (26 oz.) Rosina Italian Style Meatballs
  • 1 bottle sweet white wine; we used A Gust of Sun Sweet Niagara
  • 2 cups hot sauce
  • 2 cups dark brown sugar
  • ½ cup honey
  • 1 stick butter

Directions

Combine wine, hot sauce, brown sugar, honey and butter in a large pot over medium-high heat. When butter melts, add the meatballs and stir to coat. Simmer uncovered for 2 to 2 ½ hours or until the sauce is reduced by half. If preparing in a crock pot, cook frozen meatballs in sauce on high for 4 hours. Place the crock pot lid slightly ajar to release the steam which, in turn, reduces the sauce. Serve with toothpicks as an appetizer.

   Awesome!

Made this for the Sunday game appetizer. It was a hit. A little zingy, with a touch of sweetness. Now it's gonna be hard to choose between these and the Sweedish meatballs!!!
